Walk & Run Enjoys Perfect Day!
Notes from our
Kids and Families
Thank you! Through CCH I have learned to take care of myself and my children...
April 6, 2010
Perfect weather and over 550 enthusiastic participants made this year's 5K Walk & Run for the Kids a great event for Cleveland Christian Home. Walkers and runners - including individuals and church, family and work groups - all came to the Cleveland Zoo to enjoy a wonderful day and support CCH's many programs.
Dave Summers, of Channel 3, WKYC news, emceed this year's Walk & Run, sharing his enthusiasm and energy for CCH and helping to kick of both phases of the event in a terrific way. We are grateful for Dave's willingness to lend his talents to our morning!
253 runners came through the chute of the 5K course that wound through the Zoo and was once again organized by Howard Mack of HMA Promotions. Trophies were awarded for the top finishers in each age category. Participants’ results can be seen by clicking on this link to the HMA website: http://www.hmapromotions.net/race-results/2010/4-3-2010.pdf.
The Run was followed by over 200 people who walked the 5K course past curious cheetahs, giraffes and lions, and were able to enjoy a picture perfect day in a beautiful setting. Swifty the Clown and jugglers from St. Ignatius High School's Circus Company entertained outside as well, while crafting opportunies with Pat Catan's team members and face painting with members of St. Michael's Youth Group were available in our Family Fun Fair. Breakfast was generously provided by U.S. FoodService with additional food donated by Trader Joe's in Crocker Park.
As in past years, churches and organizations from around the region continue to hold their own events in support of CCH's 5K Walk & Run for the Kids. These include walks, dinners, teddy bear sales -- all kinds of great events to help continue the mission of Cleveland Christian Home to be a haven of hope and healing for children , youth and families suffering from mental illness, abuse and neglect. Special thanks to the Christian Churches (Disciples of Christ) in the region and all who continue to keep our kids and families in mind.
