There are many volunteers who generously donate their time and skills to the Cleveland Christian Home. Each year, CCH receives hundreds of hours of volunteer service from individuals and different church, corporate, civic and youth groups. From serving as librarians to sorting donations to planning our special events to "done in a day" group projects, our volunteers are an important part of our success.
If you are considering volunteering with CCH, please read over our current volunteer needs and see if there is a position or project that interests you. Please call 216/476-0333 for additional information or to obtain a volunteer application.
Current Volunteer Needs:
Needs Room Volunteers - we are currently moving our Needs Room to a new location and need volunteers to help us pack and move, unpack and reorganize in our new space. Once the move is complete, we will need help on a regular basis to sort and organize new donations, and help inventory and requisition these items. We are also looking for individuals or groups to commit regular times to help clients find items they need during appointments at the Needs Room with their case workers.
Santa's Elves - we are in need of individuals and groups throughout the holiday season to help sort, inventory and distribute Christmas gifts and fulfill individual wish lists for children and families in our programs.
Groundskeeping - help us maintain our grounds by volunteering individually or with a group to help with general groundskeeping activities from Spring through Fall. Also, look for announcements of Spring and Fall Disciples Annual Work Days to join with DOC churches in the area in helping keep CCH's main campus looking great.
Memorial Gardens - help us maintain two garden areas on our main campus ~ the Anna "Mom" Thorpe Memorial and Mario's Garden, created in honor of two special individuals in the Cleveland Christian Home family.
Labels for Education and Box Tops for Education - Because our Residential Treatment program clients go to school on our campus, CCH can benefit from the Campbell's Labels for Education and General Mills Box Tops for Education programs. If you, your work, civic or church group would like to collect labels from these companies' products to benefit the CCH school, please call the Development Department. We need help with collecting, counting, sorting and mailing these labels in order to redeem them for credit.
Event Volunteers - Throughout the year we have several special events that could not succeed without the help of volunteers. If you are interested in participating as a volunteer at our 5K Walk for Kids, our Scramble for Kids golf outing, or other events, please let us know.
Special Projects - From time to time we become aware of a particular project that needs to be completed. These can range from fixing an item in our independent living apartments, to helping with a mailing, to looking through historical files. If you would like to be on call with us for special projects, or have a particular skill you think could help us in these situations, please call and leave your contact information.
