Sunny Side Up at CCH

Much as summer’s end is always bittersweet, and this has been no typical summer, Cleveland Christian Home is grateful for the figurative and literal sunshine this season brought. First and foremost, our children and staff remain in good health.

In addition to our good physical health, our operational health also received a substantial boost. With the help of The Community West Foundation, The Greater Cleveland COVID 19 Rapid Response Fund, the Woodruff Foundation, and several generous donors, CCH has been able to meet the demand and increased costs of food, personal protective equipment, and cleaning supplies during the pandemic, and maybe of greatest note, CCH received funds needed to make critical updates to our IT system, so that we could implement secure telehealth services, which allow the kids in residential treatment to see their loved ones and therapists to provide support to at-risk Individuals and families in the community. Many thanks to those who contributed. Other boots to our operations and spirits:

  • Many, many hand sewn masks and other donated PPE for our kids and staff;
  • The lighting of Terminal Tower and the downtown Post Office in honor of CCH on July 24th
  • Pizza parties thrown by people like you to boost the kids’ spirits (and to help our kitchen staff!)
  • Two successful, first ever virtual fund raisers: The 5K for Kids, which raised $32,000; and the Longest Drive, which raised $57,000. Many thanks to our participants and sponsors!

We have had much to be grateful for and ask that you continue your support as we navigate the murky waters of virtual schooling, PPE, and uncertainty as to if or how this ends. Your donations of cash, stocks, or an IRA rollover provide us the ability to face these challenges as they arise, while meeting the needs of our community. If you are interested in leaving a legacy with Cleveland Christian Home, please contact me to discuss your options.

Want to make the kids smile? Contact Deanna Baber, dbaber@cchome.org or me, jmansour@cchome.org to throw a Friday or Saturday night pizza party. Other ways you can help include sending school supplies, coloring books for teenage boys or young adult males, DVDs of newly released G or PG-13 rated movies, twin bed pillows, male youth and adult socks, masks, or individual hand sanitizers through Amazon Smile (DESIGNATE CCH AS YOUR RECIPEIENT CHARITY!) to CCH at 11401 Lorain Avenue, Cleveland OH 44114. Please remember to include your name so that we may provide a receipt for your tax purposes.

We at CCH know that this is a difficult time for everyone with so many out of work, with kids not having regular school schedules or attendance, and the pervasive worry over our collective health, so we are doubly grateful for your generosity and care.

With Love,
Judith Mansour
Chief Development Officer
